About this Blog
The twentyfirst century will be the age of the elderly. Scientists expect people to stay healthy for a longer time, and to live longer lives. What these profound changes in human experience will bring is uncertain though.
This blog seeks to provide the reader with reflections based on the long and often surprising history of old age and retirement. It will mainly contemplate on how people in the past prepared for and coped with old age.
My scholarly research into these topics, as well as other topics related to financial history, can be accessed here.
